oat milk horchata

YUMMMMM!

This twist on horchata will be sure to please you (boozy) AND your kids (not boozy).



Servings: 4


INGREDIENTS


BOOZY:

1 cup (90g) oats

¼ cup (55g) long grain rice (do not rinse it!)

3 (830 ml) cups water

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 cup (240ml) Fireball Whiskey (or cinnamon liquor) - use less if you prefer less cinnamon-y taste

pinch salt

Lots of ice


NOT BOOZY:

1 cup (90g) oats

¼ cup (55g) long grain rice (do not rinse it!)

4 cups (950ml) water

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ cup (60 ml) agave (use 1/3 cup if you like it quite sweet)

pinch salt

Ice


METHOD

1. Blend everything in a high powered blender for 45 seconds to a minute.

2. Strain thorough a cheesecloth or strainer into a pitcher with loooots of ice and stir. (If you don't have a strainer, you can use a coffee French press or simply wait a few minutes for the bits to settle and pour the liquid off the top)
